Road safety commitment (point permits)

The company has a fleet of more than 500 trucks, machines and other operational vehicles that carry out nearly 1,000 rotations in Cameroon's major cities to collect household waste on a daily basis.

Concerned about the safety of users and the quality of the behavior of its drivers on the public road, the Company is committed to the process of permanent monitoring through a platform: « THE POINT PERMIT SYSTEM. »

The objective of this system, which is under the responsibility of the Quality Department, is to challenge, raise awareness and punish drivers and drivers who violate the rules of the Highway Code. The "zero tolerance" objective (sanction of any offence, however slight it may be) contributes to the creation of a spirit of safety beneficial to the Company and other road users. That is why the Company has imposed a dual requirement:

All drivers must undergo in-house training (Highway Traffic Act, Defensive Driving, etc.) with regular refresher training:
    • Any fault resulting from non-compliance with road traffic rules is considered an offence related to the Highway Code

    • Any fault resulting from aggressive behavior, threats... against other users is considered a civic offence.

    • EAny fault punishable by the Penal Code in terms of conduct (e.g. drunkenness, hit-and-run offence, etc.) is considered a judicial offence.

All trucks undergo regulatory technical visits and a check-up before leaving and after returning from each tour.

The points permit committee is held monthly to decide after hearing the offending drivers. The driver who keeps a total of 12 points at the end of the year, receives an excellence bonus.
